Some say it makes sense, since haniwa were the primary means of spreading the curse, but others are more skeptical, saying that the old gods are all gone, anyways, deprived of faith and much reason to continue existing.
As far as officers and shinigami about, there does seem to be an increased presence, but it's focused on the stuff mentioned in the clean-up prompt; public relations, helping out where they can, etc.
