They take the criticism on the chin, laughing brightly while sipping at their drink. (They could get used to the taste of it, they think.) "Enanan," they say, committing it to memory with a smile.

"I'm not going to sit here and ghost you. Not when you helped me out of a bad situation, and definitely not after this." They're more than pleasantries; this conversation has been really, really nice so far. Not unlike that trip into the inconbini, it's reminded them a little of home in the good ways.

"You definitely understand the online thing, too. In real world conversations, I don't know... sometimes it can feel like too much of a performance," they admit before adding, "Which makes sense when you work in PR, I suppose. But when you really have time to sit down and think about the words you're saying, in a place where everyone knows that it takes time to reply... it's pretty comforting." They look out ahead of them, wondering if they've said too much again or if this was a natural thing to say. Instead of overthinking it, they focus on something else. "Do you know if your friends made it down here?"
