[The cool voice slithers up her spine like an ice-cold snake. She wishes she didn't recognize it immediately, and she wishes it didn't always dredge up old memories that she'd much rather forget, but following the yelp of the boy as he hits the ground, Tifa spins around.

Once upon a time, she might have been terrified. Her feet might have frozen at the sight, or she'd be caught without air in her lungs, without words to say or the fire to stay and fight or run from him. She can feel the burning in her chest, across her scar where his steel had cut, but Tifa fights it down as she stares across at him, the three youths long since forgotten about. Hell, she is afraid—she would be a fool not to be, but she can't afford to let it wrap its chains around her.

Not that they're about to do much after the move he'd made against the one hiding in the alleyway. Instead, like Tifa, they are standing there and watching as if another showdown is about to happen on their streets as her fingers clench to form fists.

But she doesn't move. Instead, she takes a deep breath and tries to remember the fight she's just left before stumbling into this one.]

Seems I don't have much of a choice.

[She tries to steel her voice, to steady the quake away from it.]

You're alone, too.

[It's almost as if she's saying it to herself. To make herself feel better.]
